EFT is based on the concept that the electromagnetic energy flowing through our bodies is the regulator of our health. This concept is foreign to the scientific, Western mind which tends to appreciate things only if they can be weighed and measured. Nevertheless, based on the very positive results it achieves, the technique warrants recognition.

EFT uses the same energy meridians and nine of the specific acupuncture points on the head and chest traditionally used to treat emotional and physical ailments. Unlike acupuncture, however, the technique uses tapping of the fingertips on these points rather than the insertion of needles. While tapping these points, the person thinks about their problem - anxiety, depression, pain etc. and voices positive affirmations.

The combinations of tapping (activating) the energy points while voicing the positive affirmations works to clear the energy block from the body's bio energy system, thus restoring the energetic balance. In practice, the technique is simple and quick to perform. All one needs to learn is the location of the points and the proper method of formulating the affirmations. The series of nine acupuncture points with affirmations can be “tapped out” in less than a minute. Each point is tapped five to seven times - about the time it takes for one full breath.
